About Us

Born in Sicily, Gus moved to Melbourne as a young boy with his family. Growing up he was fortunate enough to experience their traditional salami and sausage making, tomato couli, made from home grown vegetables, and even a little wine making. His passion for food to this day stems from his belief in the fact that you need to start with quality produce. Gus has always tried to buy and support local growers, like Yendon Tomatoes, Wilson’s Fruit and Vegetables and Harry Browns vegetables. His butcher is both butcher and one of his oldest friend

Table 48 is housed in one of Ballarat’s oldest buildings (1859) and is the last in a long line of successful restaurants over the years and one Gus has called home for the past 15. “We aim to stay consistent and keep our customers happy in a warm, relaxed environment.” “Our customers and the friendships that are made, make it worthwhile. They are as much part of our lives as we are of theirs.”

Table 48 specialises in Italian favourites like pizza and pastas, but also steaks, seafood, especially our oysters, and classics like a Parma. We highly recommend leaving room for dessert, a classic cocktail, nice glass of wine or a cold beer.

Your table is waiting at table 48.
